Samoan author and blogger Lani Wendt Young has been named the Pacific Laureate by the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of states as part of their annual writers’ prizes.

Wendt Young, a published writer, joins two other ACP Laureates who are authors. Ali Zamir of Comoros is the Laureate for Africa and Martine Fidele of Haiti is the Carribbean region’s Laureate.

Announcing the 2018 laureates, the ACP Secretary General Dr. Patrick Gomes says the work and initiative in Wendt-Young’s writing was impressive.

Gomes saluted Wendt-Young’s recent reportage challenging why the world’s major powers have been so slow to adopt urgent measures on climate change.
